The classic Minnesota vacation resort. In 1948, a
fashion model and professional photographer decided they had
enough of the Chicago city life. They packed up their 2 year
old son and moved to a 2 cabin vacation property at the end
of a two-rut road in northern Minnesota.
During several decades, Helen and Bob Kohl developed this
property on Big Turtle Lake (one of a chain of 8 lakes) into
one of the area's finest resorts. In the late 1970's, Rex
and Kurt Kohl took the resort over from their parents. They
added new Colorado style, 8 sided mini homes on the property
along with building an indoor pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, and
laundry facilities.
Succeeding the Kohl's family were a few owners that made
changes along the way. In 2000, Ron Mason purchased the
property and gave it a proper facelift inside and out. Many
changes came about. A large family reunion 4 unit villa was
built along with a large family cabin. He remodeled the pool
and built an outdoor hot tub.
In 2003, a new family moved to the area. The current owners,
Jim, Debbie, and their then 12 year old son Aaron Eickhorst.
They have worked diligently on making sure the resort
continues to operate as a resort with deluxe accommodations.
